Established in 2015, the DTC are passionate in their vision to inspire & motivate diverse audiences of people with previously limited professional theatre experiences. By sharing our high quality, accessible productions we aim to educate & excite audiences new to classic literature.
Through effective partnerships & funding support from Arts Council England, the DTC are dedicated to developing mutually beneficial relationships between schools, theatres, colleges and community projects.
Since our first production in 2015, A Christmas Carol has been the cornerstone of the DTC’s output. Our unique adaptation of Dickens’ classic novella presents two actors taking on every role in a fast-paced & action-packed 60-minute production. After a last year’s huge success, we are delighted to be bringing back Ebenezer & his ghostly gang for our winter season 2019/2020.
Since Autumn 2019 we have been touring our exciting adaptation of Shakespeare’s bloodiest play, Macbeth. This Arts Council England funded project brings the Bard’s complex text to life through a high quality, digestible 60-minute performance for all abilities. Whilst staying true to the original text, the DTC’s Macbeth presents the Porter character as narrator, keeping the audience captivated throughout this famous Scottish tragedy.
In 2020/2021, despite the challenges presented by Covid 19, we are continuing to add our theatre repertoire with two new titles Dickens’ Dream and Oliver Twist.
So, further to our last post, we are now two months into lockdown with no idea when we can hope to be coming out of this situation...Read more
